Andrew’s practice focuses on municipal law and labour and employment law.
Andrew is a key member of Reynolds Mirth’s municipal law team and provides advice to municipalities on a wide variety of issues and areas, including: municipal enforcement issues, tax recovery, bylaw interpretation and drafting, tendering, the application of Canadian free-trade agreements, privacy and FOIP issues, and planning and development issues, including appearing before Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards and the Land and Property Rights Tribunal. He also advises councils on issues such as disqualification, pecuniary interests, and council codes of conduct breaches and investigations. Andrew also provides advice on matters related to the Local Authorities Elections Act and has conducted successful challenges to municipal elections in Alberta. He also regularly reviews and drafts agreements in a variety of contexts for municipal clients.
Andrew practices employment law and represents both employers and employees in a variety of forums and disputes, including wrongful dismissal claims, restrictive covenant issues, human rights complaints, employment standards complaints, and unjust dismissal complaints under the Canadian Labour Code. He advises employers on day-to-day human resources issues. He also reviews and drafts employment and independent contractor agreements as well as workplace policies. Andrew also practices labour law and has appeared before the Labour Relations Board representing employers in certification applications, and has acted for employers in collective bargaining and labour arbitration proceedings.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys gourmet cooking and gardening.
