We are pleased to announce that partner Randy McCreary has been appointed King’s Counsel.

Randy’s extensive accomplishments and his contributions to the legal profession date back to 1985 when he was called to the Alberta Bar. Early in his career Randy developed a keen interest in fraud litigation and claims. He became a member and elected to the board of the Certified Fraud Examiners Association and later became president of the Edmonton Chapter. He attained his CFE designation in 1996.

Randy’s practice primarily focuses on energy regulatory law, acting on behalf and for the benefit of the Office of the Utilities Consumer Advocate. He has represented the UCA and its mandated constituents since the UCA’s inception in 2003 and has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Outside of his law practice Randy is a regular lecturer and is committed to lending his expertise to the next generation of lawyers. He has taught LESA and Bar Admission courses and over the years has worked with and trained numerous junior lawyers in the areas of creditors’ rights and remedies, commercial lending, and commercial leasing.

Beyond his professional accomplishments Randy is also very active in his community coaching youth sports and working with the Cerebral Palsy Association.

In his over thirty-five years of practice, Randy has developed recognized expertise in energy regulatory law, a complex but significant practice area, which impacts the lives and wallets of Albertans. While doing so, he has exhibited the highest degree of honesty, ethics, and integrity as demonstrated by the deep relationships he has built within the legal community.

Reynolds Mirth is proud to congratulate Randy on this tremendous achievement!
